At the end of Field of Dreams (spoiler alert) Ray finally gets what he’s been struggling toward the whole movie. The people came. From miles away they came for baseball.
But that’s not the real boon is it? The thing he needed more than anything was closure with his dad. I get chills and a little misty eyed thinking about that scene.
In most stories there are two boons that the hero gets by the end. The thing he or she wanted AND the thing he or she truly needed. I hope your creative journey provides both for you. This reflection gives you some to reflect on what those might be.
And if you’re not there yet, perhaps this would be a good session to come back to later. It’s always easier to discover the deeper meaning of events in retrospect.
